Privacy policy
What happens to the details you give us on this website, in plain English. If anything here isn't clear, email us and we'll explain it.
Who we are
Amantek is an IT support business working with schools, small businesses, shops and local organisations across the UK. For anything you send us through this website, we are the “controller” of your personal data, which means we decide how it’s used and we’re responsible for looking after it.
The easiest way to reach us about any of this is info@amantek.co.uk.
What we collect
We only receive personal data when you choose to send it to us. There are two forms on the site.
The contact form
Your name, email address, the message you write, and, if you fill them in, your phone number and the type of organisation you’re with (a school, a small business and so on).
The “Work with us” form
Your name, email address, what you’re interested in (joining the team, partnering, supplying us), your message, and optionally your phone number and a link to your LinkedIn profile or portfolio.
Please don’t put anything sensitive in either form. We don’t need passwords, bank details, or information about pupils, staff or anyone’s health to answer an enquiry, and we’d rather not have it sitting in an inbox.
Technical information
Like any website, the server that delivers these pages keeps ordinary technical logs, such as your IP address, the page requested and the time. Our hosting provider holds those. We use them to keep the site running and secure, not to profile anyone.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
- We don’t sell your details or pass them to marketing companies.
- We don’t send marketing emails to people who simply used the contact form.
If that ever changes, we’ll update this page first.
Why we use your information
The law (UK GDPR) says we need a lawful reason for using personal data. Ours are:
- Answering your enquiry. When you ask about our services, we use your details to reply and, if you want to go ahead, to set up the work. This is a legitimate interest of ours, and it’s also what you’d expect us to do with a message you sent us.
- Considering you for work or a partnership. If you use the “Work with us” form, we use what you send to assess whether there’s a good fit and to get back to you. Again, that’s a legitimate interest, and it’s the reason you sent it.
- Keeping the site secure. Server logs help us spot and deal with misuse.
- Meeting legal obligations where we have to, for example responding to a lawful request from an authority.
Who else sees it
Your message passes through a few hands on its way to us:
- FormSubmit. We use a third-party service called FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) to turn form entries into emails. It receives what you type, forwards it to our inbox, and acts on our behalf in doing so.
- Our email provider. Once the message lands in our inbox it’s held like any other email.
- Our hosting provider. As above, for technical logs only.
We don’t share your details with anyone else unless the law requires it, or we have to protect ourselves or others from harm.
Sending data outside the UK
Some of the services above are run by companies that may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards the law provides, such as the UK’s approved transfer mechanisms, and we choose providers accordingly. If you want to know the details for a particular provider, ask us.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to 12 months after we last spoke, then we delete them.
- If you become a client: your details move into our client records and we keep them for as long as we work together and for the period we’re required to keep business records afterwards. Your contract will say more.
- “Work with us” applications: up to 12 months, unless you ask us to remove yours sooner or we agree to keep it longer.
Schools and children
This website is for adults who run or work in schools and organisations. It isn’t aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect their data through it. When we do support work for a school, any personal data we handle on its behalf, including anything about pupils, is covered by the contract or data processing agreement we put in place with that school, not by this page.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete your data, where we don’t have a good reason to keep it;
- stop or limit how we use it;
- stop us relying on legitimate interests for something you object to (we’ll stop unless we can show a compelling reason not to).
Email info@amantek.co.uk and we’ll reply within one month, which is the legal limit. There’s no charge for a normal request. We may need to check it’s really you before we hand anything over.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled something
Please tell us first so we get a chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle personal data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Anything significant will be made obvious rather than buried here.
